School operations during the state of emergency

As is well known, yesterday Japanese Prime Minister has declared the state of emergency for Tokyo Metropolitan Area. The measure will last from January 8 to February 7, but it might be extended furthermore according to the situation.

For this state of emergency, Tokyo Governor, the competent authority, has not directly requested schools to close. Except for extraordinary closure at the discretion of the school corporation (if there’s the fear of an outbreak of the virus inside the school), our school will not close straightaway, and will continue to operate to secure the learning opportunity for our students, while thoroughly putting into practice all the measures to prevent infection for the current students and the members of the staff.

The school will take these new measures for the duration of the state of emergency.
Let me also add that these measures may be modified later due to social situations according to the directions of the competent authorities.

1.For the first week of classes after winter holidays(January 11-15), all classes will be held online.

2.From the second week(from Monday 18each class will attend classes at school with scattered attendance twice a week, and the rest of the days have classes online.

3.To avoid congestion when commuting to school, classes in the afternoon will finish at 16:00.

4.Every Thursday all the classes will be held online, and the school building will be closed.

5.School business hours for non-students/public: 10:00 to 16:00(excluding Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays ).

6.The school staff will also shorten working hours and practice telework.
