Mochi-tsuki Festival

Mochi-tsuki Festival

”Mochi-tsuki Festival on Jan. 18 in the school terrace”

Japanese people pound rice to make traditional New Year’s “Mochi”=rice cakes.

Many students tried to do it with “Kine”=a long heavy wooden mallet, and when it was done, we ate “Oshiruko” =sweet red bean soup, with Mochi. Students liked it. It was so tasty because Mochi was freshly made and Oshiruko made us warm in this cold weather. Join us and enjoy Japanese culture with us!
